Zero to Hero-Assignment #9

I’m behind again! It’s like college all over again, minus the binge drinking.  I spent the evening catching up a bit.  I changed my theme back to the original.  I just didn’t love the one I had picked for the assignment. I played with the widgets, edited my About page and changed the header.  Thank you PicMonkey!  I know the About page is still a little grocery shopping listish, but will keep it a work in progress. What’s the saying?  Rome wasn’t built in a day?  My fantastical epic blog won’t be either!

I’m finding assignment #9 a bit intimidating, and I’m not sure why. For some reason, I think it’s supposed to be this super serious post, and I like to throw a little humor in all of my posts. Unless, I’m pissed, and then it’s strictly for venting.

Back to the assignment.  Of course, my family (and friends) are the inspiration for my blog.  Inspiration for my life actually.  Besides the kids (who totally inspire scrapbooking), the focus of the blog is food and recipes.  I search the internet for healthy, easy, kid friendly recipes to try and write about. Naturally, all the recipe posts aren’t like this, I mean there is NOTHING healthy about dark chocolate brownies (love you Ree Drummond!).  I want to show the kids, the ol’ man and anyone who reads the blog really, that there are delicious, healthy options. Obesity is something that I hold dear to my heart, as I was an obese child, and morbidly obese as young adult. My dad died from complications of diabetes, my mom died of cancer.  I’m way too young to already have no parents!  Obesity is a risk cancer for some cancers. I work in Gyn Oncology. So I know things.  Talk about inspiration!  I have met some AMAZING women in my 12 years.  Women who have touched my life. Amazing.

Wait! Where was I going with this? Oh yes,  healthy family!   I want to be around a nice long time to torture those little bast…, I mean, see all of their life milestones. At this point, I’m a little more than half the size I was 7 years ago.  So, still chubby, but not obese. I don’t want the kids to go through any of the harsh life lessons that I went through.  The world is rough enough. If I can show the kids that eating healthy can be tasty,  maybe they will carry those lessons on to adulthood.  Might as well share it with the rest of the world.

And let’s face it. Those kids inspire me to search for cocktail recipes as well, to try and post.  Everyone likes a good, easy cocktail!

Your widgets look good. Nothing to it! I also think that I would rather enjoy the assignments. We’re not getting graded! LOL. Yes, agreed with Claudette, recipes!
